It’s unbelievable how the advent of digital cameras have turned each and everyone of us into avid photographers. Even without special occasions, our cameras are on the ready to capture every single moment and subject we fancy. For those of us that print those pics we should try and preserve those photographs properly. Here’s some pointers:
1. If you’re printing on an ink-jet printer, purchase pigment ink instead of dye ink. Be on the look out for cartridges that are labeled pigment on the packaging. Doing this will ensure that the photos will last longer.
2. UV light and daylight can cause photos to fade, become brittle and yellow. Change and alternate the photos you display to ensure the treasured shots are preserved.
3. Photo albums should be stored in a cool, dry place.
4. Occasionally check photos to monitor their condition. No one wants unpleasant surprises.
