Sure every household have china, silver and linens that are not used on a day to day basis. For those precious items, here’s what you need to know to store them the proper way.
- SILVER – They have to be polished before they are put away in a felt-lined box or any bag that’s exclusively made for silver. Wrapping them in plastic wrappings allows the silver to melt and get damaged more so if they are placed near a radiator or any heating source.
- CHINA – Plates should not be stacked directly on top of one another lest, they can be easily chipped or nicked. An inexpensive paper plate or round coffee filter in between the dishes should be placed. To keep them clean they can be covered with plastic wrap.
- LINENS – Everyone assume that freshly laundered linens should be starched and ironed before they are stored. That is wrong, as the starch may cause yellowing or staining. You’re better off laundering table cloths and napkins neatly folded and put away. Starch and iron them when they are ready to be used.
