Sugar in your favorite soda does not eat away tooth enamel, it’s the acids that are used as flavoring agents. That’s the reason why diet and regular soda can equally do damage. This is according to a study from the University of Maryland Dental School.
The finding gets better as they found out, light colored sodas like lemon-lime varieties are more destructive than colas. If you are unable to kick that soda habit, you might want to consider having your soda with a meal. This is recommended because eating changes the acid balance in the mouth. In addition to that, try drinking the can in one sitting rather than sipping and exposing your teeth throughout the day.
