Leg Cramp At Night

Does it happen to you often? It does to me once in a blue moon, and when I have it, it really hurts. I don’t know what to do; should I just lay still or raise my legs. Till I learned that you should flex your foot for a few seconds so that your toes point toward your knees. If that doesn’t work, try a “wall push-up” by standing at an arm’s length from the wall and lean forward, keeping your heels pressed to the floor. If you do this even before turning in, you can prevent cramping altogether.

Another cause of calf spasms is dehydration. Try to drinkĀ  more water(but not after 6:00 p.m. if you turn in early or you’ll be waking up for an entirely different reason!).

It used to happen to me from time to time, and you are very right. It hurts like heck. I found that more water, as you said, helps. What mostly ended it for me though was more potassium. Either eat a banana every day or take a multi-vitamin that has a lot of potassium in it. Since I started doing that I have basically had no more middle of the night leg cramps.

I also experience leg cramps in the middle of the night. I guess I need potassium too. I’ll have to eat more bananas then coz this is a good source of potassium.
