Avoid Hair Color Touch-Ups
Posted on September 29th, 2008 | by Juliana |Do you color your hair regularly? I don’t. The most recent “coloring job” that I have done recently is just highlights. In fact, I haven’t colored or dyed my hair in my entire lifetime. For now, I can make do with highlights and enjoy my jet black hair.
I am well aware that for people who color, their hair color needs to be touched up frequently. And more often than not, they wonder why. I have learned that this constant touch-ups may be due to the minerals in our hard water which can definitely strip away color pigments. This then dulls the hue. Who would have thought that the culprit is on our shower heads?
To combat this problem, the use of protein rich conditioner for color treated hair is recommended. This balances the damaging and high pH level of hard water.
Now, I’m all the more thinking twice if I will ever have to start coloring my hair. That sounds like it needs high maintenance on top of the regular hair coloring sessions at the salon. Why does it have to be that complex? If only hair coloring is as easy as selecting industrial knobs, I would have considered it years ago.
