‘Tis the season to celebrate. Have you started planning for your holiday home decor yet? In conjunction to planning, ensure that you are fully aware of fire-safety tips, particularly if you are putting up holiday lights indoors and in the exterior of your home.
Before you start hanging that holiday light from last year, be sure to inspect and test the wiring as well as the bulbs. Frayed or cracked cords indicate that the lights are due to be discarded. Once plugged, check if the bulbs are all working and replace those that aren’t. More importantly, make sure that you buy lights that are UL certified and buy them only from reputable stores to avoid getting a sub-standard or worst, a counterfeit piece.
When decorating with candles, be sure to place the candles away from wreaths as well as branches of trees if you are decorating with live tree. Furthermore, candles can tip over so it makes sense to display them away from where they could tip easily and never ever leave them unattended when lit.
