Do you love nuts? I can’t say I do, like I would with chocolates but I consume a decent amount of nuts every week, just because…
As you very well know, it is recommended that we should eat more nuts. They are loaded with fiber, protein as well as antioxidants. They protect us against heart disease and boost our cognitive function.
You can try different variety of nuts, if you are tired of the same almond-walnut combination. Your nut bowl can be spiced up with the following:
- Hazelnuts – they’re not only good as coffee flavoring they, can be sprinkled onto fish, chicken or greens when crushed. They are rich in Vitamin B and folate.
- Cashews – loaded with magnesium, copper and oleic acid.
- Pistachio nuts – don’t they look too pretty to eat? They can be eaten plain or chopped and tossed into an ice cream bowl. Note that this nut contains slightly more fat than other nuts.
- Brazil nuts – the taste is a cross between cashews and almonds. They are rich in selenium and Omega-3 fatty acids. They are good when thrown in and mixed in green salads, as well as coating for halibut when crushed with fresh herbs.
