Potassium is known to help in lowering high blood pressure. I should know that by now, as I have been battling hypertension for so many years. Having said that, we also know that sodium does the opposite because it spikes blood pressure. But don’t we love tasty foods? I sure do.
So what are good sources of potassium?
bananas, plantains, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, winter squash, beans, soybeans, oranges, orange juice
A good amount of potassium at 4,700 milligrams per day via food and not supplements is great. Know that when you get potassium from foods, it is the best source because potassium is then absorbed by the body easily as compared to the potassium you get from milk, meat and grains.
Aside from the blood pressure lowering benefit of potassium, it may also reduce risk of kidney stone and bone loss related to age.
