Runny nose…. Don’t we all have that nowadays? With the very cold weather and the chilly air, as soon as we step outside we would automatically need a tissue even if we don’t have a cold.
Why is this?
Prior to inhaling the air into our lungs, our body tries to warm it. The very small structures in our nose aptly named as turbinates, swell up, which in turn create more surface area to warm the air. The mechanism that takes into effect also kicks the swelling into action which eventually sends a signal to produce more mucus. Thus, the drip.
