Attention all smokers out there. Do you notice that in the winter you’re more likely to get frostbites? If this is a good enough incentive for you to quit smoking, why not try and checkĀ it out for a few days? That would mean you’ll have to quit puffing for a few days.
So, why are smokers prone to frostbites? This is so because, blood vessels in a person’s hands and feet expand rapidly upon exposure to freezing temperatures thus, protecting the extremities against injury. Nicotine however, slows the expansion. That’s why even if smokers are already indoors, their fingers and toes does not warm up as fast as non smokers.
Now, is this a good enough reason for you to quit?

I doubt this will make the slightest bit of difference.
Cyanide, lung cancer and sure death have not managed to get some people to stop, so why should they pay any attention to frostbite!!
Wow!….I had no idea.. Thanks for the great information

quitting is totally up to the smoker. it’s a matter of choice as they say. with a lot of worthwhile information out there including death as you mentioned, if a smoker still smokes then for sure, frostbites will not motivate them to quit.
thanks for sharing your thoughts.

You’re very welcome.
I smoked for 36 years and quit 17 months ago.
Nothing would deter me from my cigarettes and I ruined my health by my stupidity.
If you are going to quit it has to be “Your” time.

You are absolutely right. Quitting has to come from one’s own volition. I know how hard it must be to kick the habit, more so, if it is forced on you.
