When I was starting out my career in the corporate world, I did not know that I should pick my battles. Because I was very aggressive and very impatient and so much in a hurry to get to where I wanted, I did not pay attention to the so called exit signs of my corporate life. Had I known to pay attention early on, I would not have experienced a lot of burn-outs which only led to frustrations that eventually delayed my path to success.
I got there eventually, and boy, was it so fulfilling to see my accomplishments and see my dream mid-management career come to fruition. Looking back, a delay of one year only made my success more sweet, and along the way I learned a lot more.
Too often, we get so wrapped up that we fail to distinguish what is important and not so important. I can only hope that this is not going to happen when we are in public areas, say for example in a movie house or a theater. For safety, we should always ensure we know where that photoluminescent or LED exit sign is located.
Now, that I’m a lot older, when those days of being impatient is long gone, I now know how to identify and locate EXIT SIGNS. I did not only age in number, I also got a lot more matured that I can now see those exit signs that we see all over public areas as a visible reminder of my being cautious as I continue my travel through life.
