We’ve been having great weather here the past few days and with that, I’m now planning to tackle our windows. Yes, spring cleaning our windows came a tad too late, because it has been really cold and I didn’t feel like doing the job.
As the weather gets warmer, we often experience windows sticking and swelling because of heat and high humidity. Is there a remedy for that? Sure! Windows can be easily loosened by gently wedging a paint scraper or a putty knife between the interior frame and the window frame. If you are dealing with a wood frame or painted frame, a bit of furniture polish sprayed along the surface where the sash and the trim meet should help. A squirt of lubricant geared towards the side channels and locks of a metal frame will help loosen the window easily.
The above steps should help you lift the sash easily. If it does not budge, you have to repeat the steps.
