Consumers are now buying more and more organic produce. There is one thing that some of us may be confused about. And that is the thought that aside from not ingesting harmful pesticides, we are less likely to be exposed to harmful bacteria when we buy organic.
The former is true, but the latter is definitely not. We have to keep in mind that organic produce in not healthier in terms of bacteria, than regular vegetables and fruits. This belief tends to make a lot of people that they can skip to thoroughly wash their organic fruits and vegetables.
It is important to note that just like any food, these organic produce are prone to contamination during growing, handling as well as processing. Rinsing them well before cooking and eating is a must!
