Stop Charging Me!

Don’t we all love the convenience of online automatic payments? Those monthly or whatever frequency bill amounts that are deducted straight from our bank accounts ( i.e. insurance online payments) – no check writing required – thank you very much.

However, there is an increasingly common problem. And that is none other than the fact, that sometimes there are companies that keep on taking your money even when you have already requested them to stop the deductions.

It is imperative that we know how to cancel and stop the deductions. Both written or verbal request should be honored by the bank and they should discontinue payments at once. Ensure that your request to the bank should be in at least three business days(minimum) prior to the next payment, but giving two weeks notice is recommended.

Should you find that the bank still keeps on charging you, you can opt to file a complaint in writing with the Better Business Bureau and choose the branch closest to the headquarters of the bank that’s charging you.
