Bread Dough Popped Again

I was tinkering with my laptop on my kitchen table one afternoon last week and deeply immersed on my fact-finding mission about conjugated linoleic acid reviews when I suddenly heard a faint sound of some kind of explosion. I immediately went around the kitchen  and opened every cupboard there is, but I had no clue where the sound came from as there was no visible trace of explosion.

Half an hour later, I opened the fridge to get some cold drink. Lo and behold, two of the several variants of Pillsbury refrigerated bread dough popped. It happened again! This is the second time that this same incident happened. As you can see, they are not expired products, and I bought these last month.

I’m not that upset because I know that I will get a replacement coupon just like last time. I already phoned the customer service hotline and replacement is on its way. Now, I just wonder how and why these pop like explosives even if they are properly stored in the fridge.

Wow! that never happened to me yet.. My family loves Pillsbury biscuit and the cinnamon rolls, and everytime I open it, I had to bang it on my counter top, because it won’t pop automatically. That’s strange..

  • That is truly strange! Did Pillsbury offer any ideas as to why this keeps happening?

  • That is comically odd. Whenever we go shopping, my husband always jokes about throwing those types of things into the card or wherever. LOL

    @ Liz

maybe, I’m not that lucky because this is my second time already.

they are aware of the possibility that this can happen but I was not told if they know the reason of such occurrence.

it is,but I have to admit that these are the next best thing to breads made from scratch at home.

  • That’s interesting. My only guess would be that your fridge is not cold enough, or perhaps the location that you place the dough is not cold enough. Maybe try putting them in a different location in the fridge?

    Best of luck!

I’ve always stored my doughs on the same drawer in my fridge through the years. as I’ve said, this is the second time that it happened to me within the span of a little more than a year if I’m not mistaken. your thought can be very valid. I may try relocating them. or maybe, my fridge is finally going to retire, and there may be some fluctuations in the temps inside. it’s about 10 years old, and it might well be a good excuse to retire it.

    thanks for your input.

This is truly bizarre! For the first time I stored my Pillsbury grands biscuits in the door of my fridge because the drawer I normally put them in was full. Now I am thinking if it IS a temperature thing, the door is probably not the safest place for them!

  • Happens to me ALL the time. SO now we don’t buy them as much. I’m sick of wasting my time and money on them.
