As homeowners, we are aware of the staggering heating cost during the heating season. As a result, we always try to find ways to slash our heating bills.
It is imperative therefore to ensure that every nook and cranny of our homes are sealed to keep the cold air out. How do we do this? It is simple… by caulking.
Nah… I’m no handyman/handywoman, is what we tend to say. But many of us probably find caulking a very simple job, because it only calls for a few tools and a lot of patience. Although, some may say it’s only a little amount of patience (not for me, though).
Choosing the right caulk is another story. There’s latex, which you can paint over which is perfect for areas where it is within view of guests. Another type is silicone which is mildew resistant and much more flexible than latex. It can expand and contract as the temperature fluctuates. You can then go ahead and pick your caulk gun. Get one that won’t jam. If you only have a few to seal, you can escape the gun and just buy a squeeze tube of caulk.
