I can’t believe that I turned out to be a vitamin junkie. You don’t know how many vitamins in the form of a pill I pop every single day, and oh, I’m not the only one in the household.
How did I get to this? From reading a lot of magazines coming from my health food store. I must admit too that I got hooked to the gourmet food delivery (for almost 5 months already), because after having all the information overload, I suddenly realized that I was making my hypertensive condition worse from my favorite sodium laden recipes that I used to make and eat.
Even with self-imposed restriction on sodium then, whenever I cooked (and that is omitting salt), I still went way beyond the recommended daily sodium intake by using other ingredients to enhance the taste of whatever dishes I whipped up from scratch.
Almost five months later, my taste buds are now trained and I’ve successfully adapted to the less-tasty dishes. I can imagine that my heart is not that overworked knowing that my sodium intake is under control, thus, the stabilized blood pressure.
Will I ever get out of the gourmet food delivery? Not anytime soon. Or should I say, for as long as we can afford it I will stick to it. My husband loves the foods too, so when no one is complaining I’m ain’t leaving.
