Do you notice the windows sans blinds behind me on this picture?
This pic was taken inside our temporary abode – our room at The Westbury in Ireland. I was baffled that it was not equipped with blinds to filter the sun but upon closer examination, I found out that the draperies were lined. The two layers : the lighter layer functions as a sun filtering layer and the thick layer as insulating layer.
I think I liked the idea as it is more streamlined. But the weather here in New York just won’t do it for me. I still prefer having blinds as another layer of protection from the very cold winter temps. Though our drapes are lined, based on experience, our blinds in all windows and our glass paneled wall make our rooms warmer during the cold season.
