Six years ago when we renovated our home, glass tile was highly considered for installation as backsplash in our kitchen. However, after thorough consideration, we ended up using tumbled marble. Why we ended with that choice is another story, and if I can bring back the hands of time, I would have put my foot down and insisted on glass tile.
Don’t get me wrong, I also like what we have installed, but glass tile being a non-porous material is indeed a better choice. The fact that liquid is non absorbent on glass tile is a big plus for easy clean up. Apart from that, they come in a wide variety of colors making it easier to properly match and or complement the room’s interior.
At the end of the day, the kitchen being a workhorse in every home, homeowners opt for installations that make for easy clean-up. It’s tiring enough to slave oneself to whip up decent meals for the family. If you have a choice and if your budget permits, wouldn’t it make sense to go for materials that are easy to maintain?
