The most invasive medical procedure ever that I have gone through is Colonoscopy. That was ten years ago, when my Gastroenterologist required me to undertake such procedure to diagnose my health concern at that time that turned out to be nothing. As a matter of preventive medicine, this test is required at the age of 50. I had it a lot earlier, so at this point I’m wondering if I’ll still be required to take it when I hit 50.
Honestly, I’d hate to hear the answer of my doctor in the affirmative because of the preparation involved. When I say that it is nowhere close to taking an OTC colon cleanser, you should believe me. I’ve done it and it was not the easiest 24 hours of my entire existence in this world. It’s an experience that is forever etched on my memory.
Having said all that however, when the time comes and I’m required to go through the same ordeal again, who am I to contradict? When it’s doctor’s order, saying no is not an option. Do you agree?
