One of my favorite shows is Big Love. I have satellite TV from DIRECTSTARTV.COM, so I can watch Big Love on HBO at home. Big Love is a show about a family in Utah that are polygamists. There is one man that is married to three women. Each woman has children with him and each woman has her own home. The husband shares his time equally among the three women. The wives get along, for the most part, and help with all of the children. The children are all raised as siblings and are close with all of the children and the other two wives. As you can imagine, this creates interesting family dynamics.
There is jealousy among the wives, though none will admit to it. They must keep their unique relationships a secret because it is illegal in Utah to practice polygamy. The husband and two of the wives have a past with a polygamist compound that they are trying to leave behind, but it keeps catching up to them.
Polygamy was not a life the husband and first wife chose. Rather, it chose them and they are making the best of it the best way they know how.
