For many years before I settled here in New York, yours truly was a tourist for many years. More often than not, my family and I would stay in one of the hotels in Manhattan. Although New York is a big state, and there are lovely places to explore other than New York City, we always made sure that we were based in Manhattan. Can you blame us? Manhattan is where the action is, and securing ones residence in the big city when visiting makes a lot of sense.
My family and I have always been partial to five star accommodation. We just didn’t crash in our hotel rooms at the end of the day. We savored our stay and we always wanted to feel like we were home even when we were tons of miles away from home. Comfort and safety was, and is always key in our choice of hotels to stay at whenever we travel.
In Manhattan, exploring the city by foot is the norm. Yes, we have the most efficient subway system in the world, and it c0mes in handy when walking tons of avenues and blocks become too exhausting. That is the main reason why picking a hotel within the proximity of the main attractions in the city is very important. The Broadway theater district, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the endless shopping mecca in different areas within the city to name a few, are the reasons why tourists flock New York. Not to forget the diversity of cuisine within the city.
I may no longer be a tourist in New York, but I always keep myself abreast about the latest property that are opening in the city. It’s been a little more than a year ago when Intercontinental New York opened right in the area where the crossroad of the world is located : Times Square. I believe that it is the largest hotel built in the city in about a decade. Being a seasoned traveler myself, I have stayed in different Intercontinental properties around the world, and I’m very well aware at the kind of hospitality that they offer. One of these days, it may pay to play tourist for one night, and stay overnight at the Intercontinental NY. That sure will be a lot of fun.
